Special Notes about AllSpark LiFePO4 batteries Cycle Life:

Independantly Laboratory tested with 0.25C Discharge rate and 0.25C Charge rate up to 5000 cycles at a controlled temperature of 25°C.  Electronic logs record during testing show a residual capacity in excess of 85% of name plate C5 capacity after 3000 cycles.  In real world conditions, the user will experience a range of temperature, current and voltage conditions which may effect the actual performance of the battery over its life.  Lower depths of discharge % and high continuous charge and discharge rates will reduce overall cycle life.  It is feasible to reach end of battery life within the warranty period should the battery be exposed to daily extremes of high current and or high temperature every cycle. Think of this type of scenerio like driving your car at 5,000rpm in first gear everywhere you drive.  It can do it, but it is not good for longevity and ultimate performance and will wear out pre-maturely.

Q: How do I store my AllSpark LiFePO4 battery?

A: If you plan to have your batteries in storage for extended periods of time, disconnect/isolate any loads or parasitic power consumers. Charge/Discharge battery to 80% State of Charge. Battery can then be stored for up to 12 months. If storing for longer, re-charge to 80% SoC every 6-12 months.

 

Q: What do I do if my AllSpark LiFePO4 battery goes flat?

A: If you discharge your battery to 10.0V, it will go into Low voltage protection mode.  This will disconnect all loads and the battery voltage will show as 0V.  When in LV protection, the BMS disconnects power to the battery terminals.  To release it from protection, you must provide 10.5V+ and 1A to the battery to "Wake up" the BMS.  Special note - many DCDC chargers and Solar controllers cannot wake up a LiFePO4 battery from LV protection if they don't have a power supply mode.  To overcome this, most AC to DC chargers have a power supply mode or you can use a portable jump starter pack or any other battery connected in parallel for a few secs to wake it up.  Then you normal chargers can take over the charging funtion.
