Charging lithium batteries
Lithium batteries have improved storage capacity relative to size and weight. Despite claims to the contrary, lithium batteries do require specific charging conditions in order to operate correctly and the battery itself must have an in-built cell management system. REDARC have designed a charging profile within The Manager30 to complement these in-built systems.
Green power priority
The Manager30 is designed to charge an auxiliary battery from multiple sources simultaneously. If 12 volt solar power is available, solar power will be used before topping up the output charging current from another source mains (if available) or DC vehicle power when on the move.
MPPT solar regulator
The built-in Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) solar regulator allows The Manager30 to deliver the maximum amount of power from portable solar panels, even during low light conditions.

I've seen some cheaper lithium batteries on the market, why would I pay more?
Generally speaking, lower priced batteries on the market use lower priced materials. To achieve lower prices they are most likely using cylindrical cells. This is a mass block of 18650 cells. They are slightly larger than AA batteries, with hundreds of them strapped together to make up a cheap and very unreliable battery pack.
They cannot produce the higher current output of a good quality prismatic cell pack like used in our AllSpark range. All it takes is for one 18650 cell to fail and it's a rapid decline of the rest of the pack.
You can ask retailers which cells they are using, but often they either do not know, or have bought off the shelf and are misled as to what is inside their batteries.
If you want a quality battery made with cells manufactured using the very best raw lithium materials and BMS componants available on the global market, and you want reliability and longevity (think 10+ years), then it pays to buy quality which costs a little more.
Can I connect a lithium battery in parallel/series?
Not all lithium batteries can be run in parallel or series, and you will need to check with the retailer as to whether this can be done.
The AllSpark Lithium batteries, however, can be joined in both parallel and series connections. You can have up to 6 x 100ah AllSpark batteries and 4 x 150ah in parallel, and 2 of either batteries in series (to run 24V).
Many brands of batteries (including some quite expensive ones) on the market cannot appropriately deal with high current discharge from parallel LiFePO4 setups and have disconnect issues, it is not the case for all batteries. Old style BMS with contactors, relays and moving parts (just a basic switch) may well have issues being connected together. Likewise for the batteries that have low quality cells or with BMS ratings of 100A or under.
AllSpark LiFePO4 batteries come with a solid state BMS and have been specifically designed from the get go, for exactly this application - running large inverters either from a single battery (up to 2000w) or in parallel for higher capacity or current output. Our BMS is designed for 175A continuous discharge/320A peak (or even 200A/500A in our new model) and runs large inverters seamlessly standalone and with paralleled batteries.
We recommend installing parallel batteries using a busbar setup rather than daisy chained parallel cables from terminal to terminal. Active cell balancing inbuilt in our BMS ensures cells receive the correct charge every time with extensive protection mechanisms built in to ensure the cells are always looked after. Cells are balancing at all voltages and will charge and discharge cells as required to balance the voltages.

Can I install my AllSpark lithium battery on it's side?
Yes, you can install your AllSpark lithium batteries safely on their side.
We do not, however, recommend installing it upside down.
Offroad Living provide a minimum full 12 months Manufacturer’s Warranty on all products we sell from the date original date of purchase (unless otherwise specified in the product listing). In the case of the AllSpark Inverter Generators, this is 12 months or 600 hours, whichever occurs first. We warrant that our goods will be free of faults during this time, are manufactured of an acceptable quality, have been accurately described in the selling advertisements and that spare parts and repair facilities will be available for a reasonable period after sale of this product. These products are made for personal/domestic use only and are not supplied, design or sold as suitable to fit for purpose for Commercial use. This Warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, damage from mis-use, water/moisture ingress, poor maintenance, neglect, natural disasters, war, terrorism or operation of the product in a manner outside of that specified in the user manual. This warranty will be considered void if the user modifies, tampers with or alters the unit in anyway. In the event of a defect and before returning the product for warranty, the buyer must contact Offroad Living first. We will run through a series of trouble shooting and fault finding checks to determine the fault or defect first. We may request photos/videos of the problem be sent to us electronically by email. If it cannot be resolved, we may request the product be returned to us for warranty inspection. If it is a warranty issue we will organise the return portage costs, if it is unclear we may ask that you organise the return of the item, and if it is found to be a warranty issue, we will refund the full postage cost. As part of our “Dead on Arrival” guarantee, should a product be found to be defective or faulty due to manufacturing defects during the first 30 days, we will promptly repair or replace the goods or supply a full refund of the purchase price. This choice is at the Buyer’s discretion during that first 30 days. After the first 30 days, the decision to repair, replace or provide a refund during the warranty period is at the sole discretion of Offroad Living. Any repair or replacement products or parts supplied by Offroad Living will be subject to the remaining time of the original 12 month Warranty period.
This Warranty does not exclude the consumer guarantees under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (CCA). Should we supply you with goods that fail to meet one or more of the consumer guarantees, you are entitled to a remedy – either repair, replacement or refund as required by law.
