Our customers are our biggest advocates, and we couldn't be more grateful for their support. This was sent to us by one such customer showing a new set up of 4 x 150W AllSpark Flexible Solar Panels - "A massive thanks for your help and suggestions through my order process. Cannot thank you guys enough...very impressive performance from the solar panels...".

SunPower Maxeon Gen III Ultra Performance cells - SunPower cells are the global leader in cell efficiency and are the most shade and heat tolerant cells on the market, meaning a rogue leaf or branch across your panels or summer time temperatures wont lead to a dramatic loss of power.
Ultra Premium ETFE laminate - most flexible panels are produced using a cheap PET laminate, the same sort or plastic type layer used to make water bottles, ever seen what happens to a water bottle left in the sun?? PET discolours and breaks down, reducing the ability of the sun to reach your cells. ETFE is designed to withstand the harsh UV rays ensuring your cells can perform at their peak for years to come - UV stable for 25 years.
22.6% cell efficiency - the more efficient a cell works, the more power is produced per square meter of space. This means that for the physical size of the panel, you wont find a panel which produces more power than these. Seen a smaller panel claiming a higher wattage?? Check out our articles hereand here to ensure you're really getting what you're paying for.
2 bypass diodes - should your panel end up in heavy shade (maybe if you leave camp for the day), the dual bypass diodes will ensure the cells continue to work to their optimum levels, with each side of the panel working independently.
Solid copper backing and thick connectors - ensuring maximum power production as cells are not connected using thin, weak strips like most panels which can break or corrode and the front face of the panel is not covered with wire lines (which reduces the surface area exposed to the sun).
Light weight (2.2kg for the 120W and 2.7kg for the 150W) alternative to rigid, glass panels, and are perfect for use on the roof of caravans, campers and roof top tents where weight is always a concern for most vehicles.
Custom cabling can also be provided upon request - need extra cabling to run to your controller? Need branch connectors to link up multiple panels? This can be organised making installation a breeze!
SunPower cellshave a maximum 45V system voltage
AllSpark 120w flexible solar panelsrun at 21V.
AllSpark 150w flexible solar panelsrun at 25.5V
120w flexible panels running at 21V can be connected in series in pairs, then those pairs connected in parallel with another pair or 4 panels in total. 150w panels can only be connected in parallel as series connection pushes them over the 45V maximum system voltage. We recommend a maximum of 3 x 150w panels in parallel connection only intoeachsolar controller to stay within the current limits of the panels and junction boxes. More can be connected through separate MPPT solar controllers.
When run into a quality MPPT solar controller, the high voltage and low amps are converted to lower voltage for your chosen battery type and higher amps are produced. When comparing solar panels, you must compare volts x amps which gives you total power (watts), not just amps or volts on their own.
INSTALLATION CARE & MOUNTING RECOMMENDATION:
We recommend installing AllSpark Flexible solar panels on a sheet of polycarbonate corflute (Twinwall) to provide a physical air gap separation between the hot surface of your vehicle and the cells. It provides rigidity to the panel and significantly improves the output performance. Flexible solar panels are designed to be flexible to allow for the panel to conform to a curved surface or fixed in a flat position, but are not designed to be used as portable panels and are not suitable for flexing continuously over and over. This applies to all type of flexible panels on the market. Cells can be damaged if allowed to continuously flex or not supported across the full surface area of the panel during use. Close care must be taken when handling the panel to ensure the cells are not cracked during the installation process. Do not bend passed 20 deg and do not point load the cells - this can happen if you try to hold the whole panel weight horizontally with your finger tips under the panel. Support the full panel until fixed onto the rigid surface you are mounting on. They do need to be permanently fixed onto a rigid surface (like polycarbonate corflute) when installed. We also recommended using 3M Very High Bond (VHB) 4991 tape to fix the panel to the polycarbonate and the poly carbonate to the vehicle. Contact us if you would like to purchase this or if you have any questions about installation methods. We are now manufacturing panels with this pre-installed - arriving in early Jan 2020.
